Sermon for July 28, 2019 - Luke’s gospel presents us with what might be an unfamiliar version of the Lord’s Prayer and several short stories – waking a friend at midnight, and a child asking her father for a fish or an egg. In each story, the friend or father gives what is requested, and sometimes more. We see both the generosity of the giver and persistence of the asker in each story. “How much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask” (Luke 11:13).
